Read lots of reviews. Be cautious.
1. While music is great to a point, don't let music be the main draw. The meat of the word needs to be one's focus.
2. A couple of construction workers haven't been paid in full. If you can't afford yo pay thisevyou hire, halt the construction. Withhold Pastor's pay and other paid staff until you pay the I sebyou owe.
3. Are you serving gourmet coffee? Why chsrge for coffee?
4. Ministry is to be the focus. Yes, fellowship is great, but are events fee based? Many of your members drive nice car/trucks/suv, wear trendy outfits, and live in houses that are on the relator rolls for $200,000 plus. The little guy/gal feels overshadowed and uncomfortable.
5. Mega churches tend to have many becoming a number. The Preacher and his paid staff love the numbers because that means greater salary. When a church is 800 plus in attendance, how many does the c Pastor really know? His Elders primarily.
On Biblical times, many worshiped in small groups. Think about it. If several members invited just 3 families to their homes for Sunday worship, you'd have a chance to know these people more thoroughly. Each family could take turns sharing the sermon.
You would not have the expense of the mega church. All the modern lighting, beautiful architecture, parking, and monthly utility expenses would be so much less costly.
One could build a much smaller building that could be used for somewhat larger gatherings from time to time. People could book the place.
I see somany churches trying to up other churches. For example, on TV, churches change their backdrops frequently. The lighting and altar remodels aren't exactly cheap.
6. So many feel that to be in the Minisrty they needvto establish a church. That's a big expense. Their are ways to minister and make an impact without the mega church facility.
7. Many of the large churches are in areas where income levels are well above average. Well, that's the wealthier supporting the wealthier. Right?
8. Can you have church other than Sunday. Some of us work Sunday. Oh, how dare I toil on Sunday. Do you ever frequent Walnart, HEB, or a restaurant on Sunday? Would you feel inconvenienced if all those places h as signs saying closed for family time, worship time, and/or a say of rest?
9. This one is for deep thinking. Meditate on it before you just let yourself curse it. It's not about buildings, fat salaries, or outgoing your neighbor for the draw. Jesus said the first shall be last. What dies that mean? 🤔 Perhaps he is saying that some of the overlooked are truly pleasing Jesus and have a real peace, while those who keee seeking the limelight are very stressed out and not really truly enjoying their Pastorship. The feel pressured to trod on due to the salary they have. They tell themselves that they just couldn't function with less in their pockets.
10. Lastly, Jesus may be telling some who keep striving for something seemingly out of their reach, don't give up. In his timing, it will come. On the flip side, could it be that what one strives for is not what Jesus feels is best for them? Not every church needs to be meaga. Not everyone called to serve needs to be in a pulpit.
