My experience attending Transition House's Older Women's programs was devastating. I was in the Wednesday support group and it was okay at first because we could talk about the trauma that we had experienced. But all of a sudden, that totally changed, and we were not allowed to speak of past abuse, but only about 'positive' ways to recover. It became a very oppressive environment where I was afraid to speak up and did not feel safe to just be myself.
In my case, I was treated by the management in a cruel and ruthless manner, with no regard for the harm done to me. Specifically, I was accused of something I never did and when I tried to tell them that I was innocent, they refused to believe me and just kicked me out of the group. They cut off my life-line with NO concern for the damage and harm caused to me and my life.
After being through trauma in my own life, I came to Transition House to find healing and recovery. But their callous treatment of me as a client retraumatised me all over again.
Victoria Transition House is NOT a safe place for vulnerable women.
