Overall fair pricing on items. Be cautious when digging, many broken items. Also there is NEVER ENOUGH SHOPPING CARTS.

At first, I thought people were going through the trash. But I quickly realized that they just don't put stuff out on racks and shelves for display. It's almost all in bins, and you have to dig around to see what they got, hence the bam "DIG & SAVE." I do NOT suggest taking children here! It is extremely unsanitary. My hands were black when I left. I do, however, suggest taking rubber gloves as it is incredibly filthy. I was so glad i had hand sanitizer with me,i used it quite frequently.I found a lot a lot and will go again. But I can not stress enough how dirty it is and not suitable for children. That's why I only gave 4 stars. Another thing, they charge by the pou d for alot of the stuff from the bins, making it incredibly cheap.

We like to hunt out the SVdP's all over Wisconsin because we love their mission and how much they help their communities. On our Madison-area adventure this weekend, we put "St Vincent de Paul Madison" into Google Maps and were pleased to see how many popped up -- including this fun "Dig and Save" option. We went here first and arrived right as it opened... to a line of about 20 people waiting to get in! We brought our work gloves as other reviewers had suggested; the clothing and linens bin in the front of the store were free of sharp objects, but you could hear people hunting through the bins in the back where kitchen and household objects are located, and glass was definitely breaking as people moved stuff around. The staff do their best, though, to keep things safe. They've put the glass items into smaller cardboard boxes so that if something gets broken, it's not mixed into the bottom of a huge bin; the box with the broken item can be removed while the rest stays safe. The prices were so good! $1.50/lb for cloth items, and 60¢/lb for anything else. You can't beat that! I walked out with 3 coats, 5 sweaters, a blanket, a curtain and a glass pot lid for $12!
