First, I’ve been coming here getting baby items for my daughter for about a year now. Times are hard, and they offer diapers/pullups/wipes and gently used clothes. I would highly recommend the boutique shop.
They also have a program that offers housing for single moms, but you do have to pay to stay here. You basically have to give these people access to ALL banking accounts and anything else. They do put your money away and won’t allow you to touch it, and if you leave on bad terms, you won’t get your money back that they kept/took from you. I wouldn’t recommend living here, there are WAY BETTER programs that offer housing FOR FREE without the extra issues.
Lastly, the months that I do come, I’ve never had an issue, up until today. I dealt with Chelsea. Chelsea is normally pretty cool and non micro aggressive. Just for context, I am a black woman. Anyway, I had a scheduled boutique shop set, but I also am in school taking classes, so I called to make sure it was fine, but no one answered. Upon early arrival, I explained to Chelsea the situation, and I would wait if no one were available. Chelsea seemed really snarky and she was VERY micro-aggressive with me. She seemed on edge, as she did state they were "very short staffed". She made multiple demeaning and offensive comments. I brought items with me. She seen me bring my items in, she proceeded to snoop through my things as if they belonged to new beginnings. I politely took my bag out of her hands and let her know they were mine. She was micro managing and really eyeing me. Not sure why, but it didn’t seem right. I won’t be returning. I suggest other black women not deal with Chelsea when she’s feeling like a Karen.
Hope this helps!
