Came to the hoving home a complete disaster in shackles. Literally!!! They took me in and gave me the tools to really live. Best experience of my life! Hands down. Never ever felt so much love and compassion from a group of women. If your looking to change everything and find yourself really living. Don’t wait! Get there today.

I came to the Walter Hoving Home in 1973 and graduated in 1974 at the New York location. The staff there helped me change my life with their wonderful examples of being a Christian and reading the Bible more than one time a day was also my life changing experience. After I graduated I went on to Bible College. I am honored to be able to keep in touch with my wonderful family from there. Judy Grigsby Worley

When I entered the Walter Hoving home I was a completely broken woman. I had been in and out of active addiction for about 20 something years, taking my family hostage. By the power of prayer and God's grace I stayed. The home gave me a safe place where I could work on myself. I needed to know why God was going to forgive me . As I learned about Jesus and started to have a relationship with Him. Thats where and when I started to heal. I left the home with a strong foundation and a love for our Lord. What a gift. I have never picked up a drink or drug since I left the home in 2013. All the glory goes to God. I know God is moving in the homes of Walter Hoving. I would highly recommend the home. If God puts it on your heart please sponsor a woman or donate your time. You will be blessed.

2016 completed & 2017 graduate! I still recommend this home to people who need help all these years later. Reading the reviews that people are saying they were dismissed or kicked out were given the rules when you walk into the home. You’re told what can get you dismissed or “kicked out”. As long as you follow the rules you are OK. This place changed my life. My family and friends can attest to this. I have 7 years clean off of pain pills & will never look back! I owe it all to Jesus, but I owe just as much to the Hoving Home.

I met and fell in love with Jesus here and have been on a good path since 2014. Yes it’s hard and no you are not a “patient” you are considered a student, a disciple of Jesus, the only true Healer. Which is why there is much fewer staff than students, they are there to keep order in some sense not to heal you, just to walk alongside you and pray with you while you seek Jesus for your healing from mental health struggles and addictions. It is definitely not a cult but I heard many people refer to it as one and walk out while I was there. Now I just think it’s funny but I do pray they all found Jesus somehow along their journey. They do not turn anyone away or kick anyone out for lack of funds, many women go through the whole program without paying a dime! You are considered a guest for the first thirty days so that, like many other programs, they and you can determine if it’s the appropriate place for you. This is all explained to you in the intake process before you even get there. We sang in choir, read the Bible all the way through, worked on various jobs around the campus, read many other books, and actually had a lot of fun! We had so many awesome opportunities to serve in the city and also just have down time and joke around. I made amazing friends that I still talk to. I was dope sick for my first few weeks and all the other women were very sympathetic and treated me as a sister and I did the same for new women coming in. We definitely did talk about our struggles and pray together. I felt welcomed and as though I belonged as soon as I got there. I had signed up for only 6 months but as I sat in a service in the chapel on a Sunday night I felt like God was urging me to finish strong and I knew I needed it so I signed up to stay the whole year and I’m so glad I did, my life is so much better for it! I learned to look at why I turned to drugs and alcohol in the first place, I learned how to cope with life without the use of drugs and alcohol and most of all I learned how to look at myself the way God sees me, as His precious daughter!
