I was there many years ago and was treated horribly because I chose to work and rebuild my life. I was called a liar ,when I told the counselor that I was only hit one time. I was made to feel bad about my situation, which caused me to be depressed and then they evicted me and my 1 year old son. (that is a whole other story) I pray that things get better. I am looking to start a group to help women and men that have been/ or going through domestic violence. *PLEASE DO NOT GET INTO THIS PROFESSION IF YOU DON'T HAVE COMPASSION*

Go to a religious center instead where they actually have a heart & help you because it’s what they BELIEVE in doing - unlike here where it’s just a paid job to them. I told a woman on the phone I had my life threatened & she was nasty & cold & hung up on me. When I couldn’t give my location for fear of my life she said she wouldn’t help me. They have NO male staff one can talk to. Just women who sadistically take pity on us & treat us as pathetic burdens. What a shame of an institution. I hope they replace the entire staff.
