I am a social security recipients I contacted this program because I wanted to see how I could get me and my children in this program to receive housing assistance I am currently residing in hotels right now because I don't feel that the shelters are safe or clean enough for me to house my children I reached out these people were very rude and discriminative because I am not a working person because I receive SSI and benefits they denied me their services and tell me their program is for working homeless families what difference does it make if a family needs help and has income what why would you turn them away

These people are disgusting. Words really can’t explain how I feel about them denying me for being homeless from being in a fatal accident. I was in this program years ago, back when COVID started and people were losing their jobs. I was affected and fleeing from an abusive environment while living with family and raising a young baby. They accepted me, and I was grateful and I learned a lot.
After graduating from the program, I got into an accident and wasn’t able to finish school, which had been my plan the entire time I was in the program. Fast forward to now: I got myself into a bad relationship, fled, and was recently involved in another accident this time, nearly fatal to the point where I can’t walk and lost everything. I decided to reach out to Charlotte Family Housing and was denied due to “previous program participation and lack of progress in the program.” (As they stated in the distasteful email they sent out)
That’s odd because I kept a job throughout the entire program and made progress by going to school, so I could eventually earn over $100K a year. My accidents weren’t something I could control, and they happened after the program. Me not finishing school wasn’t something they even knew about because I was no longer in the program at that time, so I don’t understand how they determined a “lack of progress.”
This organization is a failure and doesn’t uphold the values and beliefs they claim to stand by. I’m thankful that I trust in God and have strong faith that everything will work out for me, no matter what, but for someone who has nothing it will be difficult for them and people need to shed light on the places and the way they are doing people who are truly are in need. I have no words and will not reapply.

Program is horrible. I’ve been homeless for months me and my two kids living in my car cause over crowded shelters with no space. I met all the requirements but these pple judged me cause I lost my job as a Surgical Tech months prior to even applying for their program. So because I work two regular jobs to try to support me and my homeless children instead of Surgical Tech currently I was denied. Then tried to be funny, and tell me I can reapply in Jan cause they know I will be back working as Surgical Tech again. I’m already Homeless with children, but to be discriminated against cause the jobs I work Is Crazy,Sick, and Low.
