NC MedAssist is a non-profit pharmacy in North Carolina providing free prescription and over-the-counter medications to uninsured residents with a household income below 300% of the federal poverty level. The organization dispenses opportunities through improved health and seeks to ensure that no eligible person in North Carolina has to choose between purchasing food or their needed medication, with the aim to improve the patient’s health and lower uncompensated health care costs for all stakeholders. The range of services provided includes the Free Pharmacy Program, Mobile Free Pharmacy events, and the OTC Free Store, which collectively led to a total economic benefit of more than $ million in uncompensated healthcare costs for North Carolina and its residents.
