This place is just terrible considering what their purpose is. I called a few weeks ago for my daughter who has been traumatized along with her children because of DV. The person I spoke to pretty much said my daughter needs to call, even though their website specifically states that family members can. My daugher called. Explained that she was in the middle of a custody case, she was put on hold and transferred to an advocate, she was put on hold again and given a name and number to call. Nothing else. No conversation about other programs they offered, literally nothing else. She told them she wanted to discuss resources for counseling and anything else you have to offer. It's truly shameful. No point in calling them, and since their website seems very focused on donating money, maybe that's all they really care about.
A victim of DV has very little trust for anyone, she thought these people would truly help her. I just can't even express how upsetting this has been.

Organization is simply amazing and I’ll be forever grateful for how they helped my mother get through a very difficult situation. With that being said, the lawyers that take the cases pro bono are only doing it to look good. They give you lots of reassurance that everything is going to be OK and then everything goes wrong. They tell you that they’re doing their job but they don’t submit evidence that helps you, they discontinue to reassure you of all the things you’re trying to get to and then don’t follow through. Specifically, Kent.
