When people think of shelters they think something that covers or offers temporary protection but the women's aware is a home . Home to me is where I feel safe, secure, heard and accepted . Women's aware is An organization built up to help women in need like myself . Coming into the women's aware safe placement was terrifying for me considering I was leaving a domestic household behind to go into a place I knew nothing about . I was greeted with the warmest welcome , The staff is great . They provided me with all my necessary necessities (a warm blanket , pillow, rags towels , body wash soap, shampoo & conditioner, tooth brush and bed ) along with these things they provided me with excellent resources. People who could help me get even further . Entering into the women's aware safe placement has to be one of the best decisions Ive made in a long time , I am a new women because of this decision I am stronger, I am happier , I am not a victim but a survivor this was something I learned living inside the women's aware home. I have also met other wonderful women in my situation inside the women's aware. I was assigned 2 amazing case workers that met with me every week to discuss my case , they ensured I never felt lost or had any questions regarding my case . They listened to me , they guided me the best way they knew how and they have never made me feel small or ignored .. I would recommend women's aware 10000 times over . Thank you women's aware staff and community . Most importantly thank you Maggie you guys are doing an amazing job with the program .
