I am a handicap woman that's middle aged, born with severe spine disorders & lung defect & I was commanded by a staff person to mask up or lose my bed. So me being sick of being bullied by shelter staff I decided to email the mayor because I know she is a good person. Her staff looked into the matter & The matter was fixed. God bless the mayor of Nampa. The truth is that while some of the staff are decent to the poor there's always someone that thinks they are a lord over God's heritage. After the mask issue was resolved, the shelter manager told me that she didn't appreciate me calling the mayor on her. I had a gut feeling that they now were going to make me pay for letting the truth out. And they did. That same night I was commanded to do heavy lifting chores by the same lady staff (you know who you are) or lose my bed. This woman who the shelter put in charge of poor women needs to be fired. I believe that as long as the authority's in this place keep turning a blind eye concerning these issues, that God himself will show up in His righteous judgements to rectify the situation. So long story short, I stay at a relatives on the weekends to shower & do laundry. And now because of a hateful staff member, Im made to sleep in my car out in the cold because of a bully who will never be reprimanded. Shame on you Valley House for calling wicked good.

This shelter opened their doors to me when I had no where to go and again when I left my abuser. When I reach the gate an I make it through I know that I am safe an that is the best feeling ever. Sure their are rules like most places they are put in place for your protection an for the other women who reside there. They have amazing resources they offer if you choose to take advantage of them an classes they offer all to better you an allow you to get on your feet a move forward In your life an eventually get your own place. This shelter truely has saved my life a given me a second chance. I am grateful for the shelter the amazing staff an all it offers if you choose to accept the help.

Valley Shelter is a safe, comfortable, structured facility where women and children are able to sleep in a clean bed, shower, eat meals, and receive case management. People from every walk of life are accepted there, and although Valley Staff are all of the Christian faith, no one is discriminated against for having religious views that differ. The staff at Valley are faithful, loving and kind. They are genuinely invested in helping people to overcome the cycle of homelessness. They strive to follow Jesus's commandment of "Love one another, as I have loved you..." through acts of public service. This shelter is truly God's house, and tangible, positive change in people's lives occur within it's walls.

I've had to stay here the past 5 weeks and I have known nothing but kindness here, and have received only love and respect from both the staff and other guests. The staff cares about every person there, and want to help. I lost where I was living due to health issues, and the staff here got me in contact with many resources to help me get back on my feet. While staying here, I have never gone hungry, and I've always felt safe. I've always had a comfortable bed waiting for me at the end of the day. I work odd hours, so I was initially concerned about the curfew, but the staff had no issues at all accommodating my work schedule. I just get a late pass, and sign up for a late dinner. These people want to help us. Yes, there are rules, and they can be strict, but they are all for good reason. When I move into my new home next week, I hope these wonderful women will take me back as a volunteer. May God bless them all for their work in the community.
