I recently took a woman to the abuse network for help. Her husband was abusive to one of the children. She made him leave and is very fearful of his return. I sat for 4 hours while she was being questioned and was told she didn't look distraught enough. WHAT? If someone isn't hysterical she's unbelievable? Where did the interviewer get their training? Another local place who is to help those in need but have found them putting up roadblocks all around. I worked with this agency for many years and have never heard such incredible nonsense. Perhaps someone needs to check on the employees and see if they are doing their job!

I’m very disappointed with our interactions with the Abuse Network. The way the staff there deter men from pursuing things such as a PFA is so disgusting and sexist. No wonder a lot of men do not seek help in abusive situations. I hope they provide better services to those in crisis, but after our interactions, I have my doubts. This agency is suppose to be a resource to those in need, but instead we were met with staff who have negative attitudes and reluctancy to help or do anything. The staff there need to realize their job is to help complete paperwork related to PFAs and not “play judge”, by telling people that a judge won’t grant a PFA, so you’re not wasting THEIR time. It’s a shame we had to go through the District Attorney’s office to get our request granted and issues resolved. I will never recommend our local Abuse Network as a community resource. Do better for your community.
