Well, I expected a little more, but just got told I need to call first, and spend the next 3 to 4 hours waiting to see if someone answers to make an appointment. 🤦🏽♂️

Worthless. Nobody answers. Been stuck on hold as caller #1 after waiting 5 hours and 36 minutes. Still no answer.

I am extremely disappointed with Texas RioGrande Legal Aid. For the past several days, I have been calling every single day to try to reach someone about applying for legal assistance. My father, a U.S. Navy veteran, and I have been facing ongoing discrimination and retaliation from our landlord here in El Paso, and we urgently need help.
Each time I call, the system tells me I’m “number 32 in the queue.” What’s unbelievable is that it’s been the exact same number—day after day. It feels completely automated, as though no one is actually there to help or even answer calls. This is not just frustrating, it’s disheartening.
We have already filed complaints with housing authorities, but months have passed with no real response. The fact that a veteran and his family cannot even get through to request legal aid is unacceptable. Texas RioGrande Legal Aid is supposed to be a resource for people who have nowhere else to turn, but instead it feels like a dead end.
It is heartbreaking to realize that there is no real representation or justice system available for veterans and families in need of urgent legal protection. If this is the level of access to “aid,” then people in our community are being left completely abandoned.
