I was a perspective client twice, first go the attorney advised me via email that my case wouldn't fit a category in the abuse but rather I go after for infidelity then he ended it by saying he was going on vacation for 2 weeks and he wished me all the best, never heard from him again and I definitely attempted to reach him. This last time the attorney was kind after filling the application almost a year ago and trying desperately to connect with her. I eventually did connect, they had 1 digit off on my phone number and that explained the letters I received threatening to close my file because I wasn't responding. I was persistent and did sort all that out, connected with the attorney and she gave me advice to do it myself. I've been trying to do it by myself for almost three years and I'm so close to completing this nightmare but I can't get the legal help I so desperately need because I am broke. My husband disappeared after 10 years leaving the kids and I penniless and all I want is to finalize my divorce that I've already filed, had successfully served and am legally protected to move forward but I don't know how to move forward. I'm stuck in time and its been a tremendous struggle to find the strength to be the best mom I can be when I have nobody to help me. I wish that Southeast Legal Services would've taken appropriate attention to my abuse, neglect and abandonment case because it fees like I relive the day he left, everyday because we are still married. He doesn't call and hasn't ever called, not even once and it'll be 3 years next month. My beautiful children deserve better and I will just keep at it and hopefully God will show me the way.
Not hating on the organization, I know I one of like a zillion of the people who need help but i wish I would've had a plan set for the situation where your husband disappears without a warning and without telling our kids bye. Preparations are the key to unexpected transitions. I only wish I knew who he was before trusting my entire life to him.

If act like I'm trying to help you for a fee was a person this is it. Don't waste your time or money if you really need legal help.
The service only refer you to attorneys. If you're lucky to speak to an attorney they offer you discounted fees only because you are a member. That's the catch.
You might as well call the bar association or Google an attorney in your area. Every attorney I was referred to was not knowledgeable in reference to law in my state. They we'rnt even located in my area. You have to wait days to get a call back from someone only to be thrown back in a loop. I was sent in circles to figure how to get help. No real help. I still had to use self help. It's a rip off. Save your money.
