About This Resource

The Advocacy Resource Center (ARC) of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians provides comprehensive, culturally honoring and trauma-informed responses to those impacted by the abuse of power and control. Their vision is to empower survivors through the elimination of barriers to break the cycle of power and control for today and the next Seven Generations. ARC offers a range of services including criminal justice advocacy, crime victim compensation, emotional support, safety plan creation, referrals to community resources, transportation and financial assistance, survivor education, employment and safe housing support, medical appointment accompaniment, and community education services. The Lodge of Bravery provides a secure communal living facility with 24/7 staffing and accommodation for survivors and their children, as well as climate-controlled pet kennels, on-site laundry facilities, and cultural healing spaces. ARC also offers sexual violence services, cultural healing workshops, a survivor advisory council, a volunteer program, and hosts awareness events and activities. They do not charge for services, maintain strict client confidentiality, and serve individuals regardless of tribal affiliation.
