I've been a patient with Back Cove Midwives for nearly 11 years. They delivered both my children (2010, 2015) and I also see them annually for GYN visits. I love pretty much everyone there, after the birth of my second in 2015, I actually felt a little sad not going to see them regularly. The administrative staff is kind and professional, their office is clean but comfortable, and the midwives are compassionate and knowledgeable.
My only complaint is that one of my favorite midwives left the practice but I know those things happen in time. I am eager to see how the practice will change under the Northern Light umbrella and hope to continue receiving the same nurturing care I have in the past.

The staff and midwives at back cove were exactly what I didn’t know I needed. They supported me through a miserable pregnancy and handled every hurdle with grace.
When it came to my birth, I had a very long labor and the midwives supported me every step of the way. When it came time to have the baby, I don’t think Ellie left my side for hours on end. Midwife means “with women” - and when I talk about Ellie I still get emotional. I felt so supported and comfortable with Ellie - I put total faith in her knowledge and expertise to guide me through both pregnancy and birth.
I’ve read some of the negative reviews - and it should be noted that the midwives are busy, but always remain professional and with baby and moms well being in mind always. When it came to labor, I was thankful for their ability to put a laboring mother first.

I was very nervous about finding a provider as I am new to Maine and I was high risk pregnancy. Having a midwife is important to me as I had the same one deliver my babies in NH. This was my first time with a new provider in a new state. The midwives were amazing, the staff at the birthing center were also amazing. Very compassionate. Listened to my concerns, and did everything to ensure my baby was healthy the entire pregnancy. They respected my wishes for an all natural birthing experience. And when it was evident the baby was stuck and I needed some interventions including an epideral. They were very compassionate. Nothing was forced, and I am thankful for their knowledge. My wishes for baby for after birth was also respected. No pressure, or guilt. My favorite aspect was being able to order anything I wanted to eat off the cafe menu and having it delivered to the room. Most of the food is delicious.it was scary having a baby during this pandemic but they sent us home as soon as they could.
