Being at this shelter with my children for several months was a huge life changer for me. I use to be materialistic and down people that couldn't get their life together. All that change when I saw myself in their shoes. This shelter may me realize no one is better than the next. This shelter has taught me gratitude, humbleness, and humanitarianism. It help me overcome my obstacles and help me become a better a person. Here I am, four years later, after leaving the shelter, doing better than I ever did before. I have a great job working for the city government, have a nice place, and will be starting school in January. NOWCS wasn't the experience I looked forward to but so thankful I went through this program.

The support, reassurance, and care that my family received while in this shelter will never be forgotten. This was more of a home to my family and every staff member there was our family. They showed support through numerous ways and they did not ask for much in return. My family is vegan and they even catered as best they could to our lifestyle. We were here for three weeks and from day one never felt out of place. The chores were easy and house rules were simple. We’ve been checked on numerous times since leaving this shelter and we will be forever grateful for their kind gestures. They gifted my baby girl and I with clothes and necessities for our new home on our way out and honestly made me feel like a brand new woman starting a brand new chapter of my life. They gave my family hope that good things can happen for good people. I changed in just three weeks, I opened myself up to these women and they heard our call for help and with no judgement they moved quickly to get things going. My husband, baby girl, and I will forever be grateful and will recommend this shelter to anyone who is in need of help. They got your back 100 percent of the way. Thank you Thank you Thank you to the lovely women and men who took care of us in our time of need, forever grateful. 💜
