I’ve spent time at New Life, and I’m glad I left. What I witnessed there was deeply upsetting. The way homeless residents are treated by some of the staff is demeaning and unjust. Residents are constantly looked down on and treated more like children being babysat than adults trying to survive. One of the most disturbing issues is how meals are handled. Residents regularly miss lunch and dinner even if the show up within meal times because New Life prioritizes feeding staff first. IMAGINE THAT?? The food that’s meant for starving individuals are first given to the paid employees!!! We are made to stand in line and watch while employees serve themselves first before the people whom the food is actually meant for. Some of the staff also go back for seconds and third servings. No wonder some residents don’t get to eat, it’s because the staff takes a good portion of the food for themselves and possibly their friends and family members! Like make that make sense!!! The staff have paid jobs because the place is full of less privileged individuals. I’ve also heard from residents that staff justify this not only out of greed, but because they view residents as “dirty” and don’t want to eat after us. Whether this belief is openly stated or quietly implied, it is disturbing and dehumanizing!! This place needs a major overhaul. A lot of the staff mainly stay in closed areas where they laugh, joke, flirt and make fun of the residents. They also barely interact with the residents and look annoyed whenever you ask them for help or a question

The two overnight security guards are some of the most incompetent and heartless individuals I’ve ever encountered. To this day, I genuinely don’t understand how they were hired for this role. They routinely refuse to provide people with water or allow them to use the restroom, yet spend their entire shift laughing loudly making it nearly impossible for anyone to rest in the waiting room. Their behavior is openly dismissive and demeaning; they look at people with disgust, as if being there is some kind of punishment rather than a job they chose. It’s deeply disturbing that these overnight “security guards” are paid to treat people in need with such disrespect. This facility is in serious need of a complete revamp, starting with staff accountability! New life is truly a scam. Don’t donate money to this establishment!
