My experience with Met Council’s food assistance program was deeply disappointing. After I filed valid complaints about staff (Melissa Cook, Leora Weitzman, and Alana Good) being dismissive, condescending, and repeatedly sending expired or old food, the organization retaliated by cutting off my access to food deliveries. I had documented my concerns and asked for respectful communication and accountability. Instead of addressing them, the Managing Director, Hannah Lupien, along with Melissa Cook, Leora Weitzman, and Alana Good, abruptly informed me that Met Council “could no longer accommodate my service needs.” They have refused to provide a written explanation or confirmation of my complaint, despite multiple written requests. Instead, they stopped picking up the phone. Also, individuals such as Petra Scully and many others refused to pass me to their direct supervisors to protect their job over clients. This kind of retaliation against a client for raising legitimate service issues is unacceptable — especially from a nonprofit that claims to protect and serve vulnerable New Yorkers. Met Council needs real oversight and ethical reform. No one seeking food assistance or domestic violence services they claim to offer should be punished for speaking up about mistreatment. It’s a scam 10000%.

Great agency. They provide affordable housing for elderly, kosher and halal food, crisis services, family violence services and so much more.

They survive on donations, and the suggested donation is 10.00 if you can give it, if not they do not expect him which is also great. So i was referred to Met Council by my son's CM for my mom. The first time they came into my home, they added a grab bar to my moms' shower, and left. Two gentlemen they were very nice and like to joke with each other. Second time they came they installed another grip bar around my moms tub, and hung up broom holder for my mom. The third time i was emailing back and forth with someone from the office, who kept asking me the same questions in a different way about some holes i asked them to patch for my mom in kitchen no bigger than a quarter. The women in the office wanted pictures kept telling me she "had to ask the men" and i had to keep following up with her i never heard from her. So i left it alone. I did rate them three stars because the gentlemen that came into my moms home were exceptional, the lady is the office was giving me the run around rather than just saying "no we cannot do it for you"
