Was this the boys home back in 1940? My dad was three years old and did not get out until he was 13 The state charged one dollar a month which my grandmother never paid. My dad was released at age 13 so he could go to work. My dad was born in 1929 and lived in Gridley with his mother and brothers. My dad is on the far right age 13 his two brothers and mother in the center of the photo
