Appreciate the kindness and time to have had here to heal.
Although it was odd that the execs were far from involved until I started bringing up concerns to them of roommates who were intrusive, unhygienic, some loud and drama queens.
Interesting enough my advocate had the audacity to say I was the common denominator just by bringing up such concerns.
Later found out the very young women I brought up to staff here, were later kicked out of their following place for doing the same, and one fired for mouthing off to her work manager just like she used to do to me. I even recently found dirty dishes in my suitcase of the young women I mentioned to them who wasn’t cleaning up after herself. I didn’t find these dishes until my move out, and they were disgusting with aged smelly food on them. I also found out even after leaving here she did this very thing to her new roommmates. In which they kicked her out recently, which is truly unfortunate and sad.
Seems to me LC&RC should incorporate more real world classes, rather than just financial mgmt, perhaps one in hygiene, daily interactions/character building etc. so that they aren’t continuing the cycle of destruction is all. When I mentioned this to the director once awhile back her response was that wasn’t what we do here, we only offer a safe space to heal. Well, how can we when dealing with weird going-ons like this, that you all allow? Perhaps have better standards and rules these young ladies must abide by..
It also shouldn’t matter if someone stays with them long term, so long as they are making genuine effort to level up their life. I had the opportunity to do just that, however, as soon as I was making progress on a long term commitment with the federal govt, the director felt it was time I leave. This was after dealing with my own mental health issues and sharing that my roommate (who was an ex meth head) her energy was off putting and too much for me to endure.
Mind you, I took the advice of my therapist who was in this facility to ask that my boundaries be respected while dealing with my own life pressures.
So yeah, it seems to me this place could do better overall.
I’m very thankful for the learning experience, and time here, however. It made having dealt with so much deep depression and sad situations a little better. Thank you all, especially therapist Grace, my friend Tara, who was a Godsend to speak with openly to, and Jess who was always the most positive and pleasant of them all.
God bless you ladies, for doing God’s work.
