I'm going to leave a very candid review of JVC. I have been attending counseling services at JVC for two years. My first therapist Gloria was amazing. She was so supportive and really made me feel heard and like I was making progress in therapy. The receptionist at the front desk is always kind and willing to help. I had an issue with my second therapist Jessica not being professional and stunting the therapeutic process. I was no longer comfortable communicating with her due to comments she had made during our therapy session which I explained to the counseling supervisor. Their solution was to have Jessica reach out to me directly after I stated I did not want to talk to her. In my opinion as a fellow therapist, this was not trauma informed and put me in an uncomfortable situation as the client. I understand the counseling is free, but we as clients should still be treated with the same respect as if we were paying for sessions. When I informed the supervisor Jodie that I would not like to continue sessions with Jessica, I was informed I would be put on the waitlist. I understand no other counselors having availability. However, I think it is unfair that I am now having to be put at the bottom of a waitlist (that takes years to get off of) due to my previous therapist's actions. I am truly upset and hate to see an organization that I recommended to my friends, family, and clients handle a situation this way.

The Julie Valentine Center is amazing. This organization giving free counsel has saved my life in many ways. I first came to this organization as a volunteer but returned as a victim. They have helped me address, childhood wounds, adult assault and the trauma from how I was treated after both abuses. I wish that I could give this ten stars. They are so accepting and generous with their love and support.

The people that work here clearly are passionate about what they do. It's an amazing organization & Jamika is brilliant. I learned more from her in 15 minutes than from years of counseling! They truly understand trauma & this how to really help.
