I was born and raised that no matter how many times life knocks you down, just need to take a deep breath, get back up and keep fighting. Always be kind and treat people the way you want to be treated. And especially, don't ever forget whoever help you dance through the storms. I had never ever thought I would need help desperately until today. This time, life knocked me down really hard, to the point that I had no idea where to start and how to get back up. The feeling of you being in the foreign country with no family members nearby during the tough time is like you are drowning in the middle of the Pacific Ocean without a piece of life vest. But then Thibault, Nicole and all those who involved in my case appeared to rescue me and my children. I got a call from them one day, out of the blue, when I was in tears and fears for my own safety. From then, they have been lending me a hand with kindness, walking me through the difficulties, and now here I am rebuiling my life from the disaster with confidence and gratitude. We came here escaping an abusive home, and what we found was safety, support, and hope when we needed it most. The staff at Interval House treated us like family. For prospective sponsors: based on my experience, public “success stories” often feature the same small group of clients, creating an impression of broad impact that I did not observe on the ground. Communication and delivery of promised resources were inconsistent, and it appeared that a significant share of funding supported organizational overhead rather than direct services for survivors. I reached out to Interval House as a DV survivor and was promised multiple resources. After completing intakes and providing documents, I was promised help, but got turned away the last minute. The long process wasted time and made a hard situation harder. In addition, met there a DV victim with disablities and they turn away her as well.
