House of Hope of the Pee Dee

We set up a date and time for pick up with house of hope,so the time came and I was giving them some bags and boxes when the gentleman said we are ONLY here for big items.i was baffled by his remarkas to why he said that,so my husband walked in the house to make sure their was a clear path ,when I heard the truck started up and the drove away!!!!😡.so it come down to it that it turns out that they just being VERY selective and only wanted the big items.that is suppose to help the veterans of Florence county,but I guess when they are being selective they are not get much help them turning away clothes,dishes,house hold goods,they won't get any help from us again. Should have just went to the salvation army where they treat you fair ,not like house of hope turning goods away. Disgusted Iris Gadacz When they drove off that told me one thing ! It’s been 2 years since my last comment on this place and it’s strange that sometimes google will give you updates on things so long ago. But upon being reminded of the review I left and viewing another review that was directed towards MY review (hello Tammy :) you couldn’t have made it more obvious to who you were addressing but you could’ve mentioned me at least ) I would like to express that in that moment, this was a very hard time for MY family. This had nothing to do with what House Of Hope stands for or what they’re “claiming” they do for those in the community. This was a simple stop that happened to be open while my brother was roaming the streets of Florence and sleeping on park benches. Never was this drug related nor alcohol related but more so as a really messed up family situation that ended with him on the street. Now I will say that it’s very heart warming that places like this exist for those also in upsetting situations no matter the relation if drugs/alcohol play a role (never one to judge but it sure feels like y’all do lmfao) but simply for ME I wanted to know my brother was not deceased on the streets of Florence. Despite rules for privacy and protection which of course will always make sense, there can definitely be room for improvement like all places. If they can’t use their personal phones to make a call to inform their loved one that they are alive and safe then maybe providing a better way to STILL fulfill that would be beneficial and go a long way and prevent reviews like mine. It was more than a “go to bed you cannot use your phone for privacy reasons” no in fact it was someone insulting and belittling my brother as he CRIED and PLEADED to let ME know he was okay. Never once was he given a reason as to why he could not call me. Never once was anyone sympathetic to him. What I ended up finding out was he was NOT okay. Not at all. He was up all night because of others fighting and yelling about drugs and threatening all and each other. He was scared and distraught being in a situation that he’d never faced before (as most haven’t). Now this may not be everyone’s experience but it was HIS and that is important to share to show others how unkind humans can be especially in a place revolved around Christianity in desperate times. God is a big part of my life and I will never let someone speak indirectly towards me as if I’m not aware of things as such. Just because you know the owner which shows me you’re just biased and can’t take the heat of a bad review as I have seen many others leave which also speaks volumes. Your review is irrelevant and was only a low blow towards mine because again you’re in denial of opinions of others that do not align with yours. I was going to let this go but not after reading your comment. And to the owner, I have some words again, since you wanted to be smart in your reply to my review. Of course your phone number was “easy to find” but maybe you should’ve answered hun :) in fact someone did answer and told me they could not tell me if my brother was there and again I get it, you never know who’s calling and what their intention is and for the privacy of all I can see why that went how it did. But with those words from whoever I spoke to, came w/ a very nasty tone. I’m not sure what your true purpose is. Yeah you can provide shelter but to be nasty people doing it doesn’t show me that your heart has EVERYONES best interest in mind. It’s disgusting to see such hatred and disrespect in human beings but that’s so “normal” in this world. It doesn’t cost anything to be kind nor understanding. Especially to those you’re claiming to serve and help in the community. I speak for all when I write this because I know many others have been in my brother’s shoes. I can proudly say 2 years later he is in a much better place in his life and it had nothing to do with this place. Like I said 2 years ago, do better. You’re meant to serve others not just yourselves doing something good with no genuine intent. Wouldn’t be bad reviews if there wasn’t reasons behind it ;)

My name is Tammy and I’ve read some reviews here and can only shake my head at some of the people. Just shows how childish they are. My brother is in this place and he wasn’t able to call me either. But who am I to get angry?? He is an adult and I know if he’s in a Christian place like this then something’s gotta be going rt. Right? That’s when we learn patience and maybe ask God to give u peace and patience. If you’re getting angry and show your family member who are trying their best to get help in a facility then what do u think your anger is going to do when u do get to talk to them. Come on, let’s be smart about this. You know they’re in a facility to get help but you want to get angry because they’re in the place because why??? Because you can’t talk to them??? WOW!!!
