Sandra Thompson rated 5 3 weeks ago Beautiful church that was hosting the Peer Helper Pinning Ceremony. The church's youth director prepared gift bags for all the Peer Helpers to get acquainted with what the church offers youth if they were looking for a church home. |

Julie Dickey rated 5 3 years ago I've been a member at HBC for over 33yrs (Oct 1983). My husband's family are charter members of HBC & when we married I moved my membership from DBC. I've taught preschool up to youth & occasional adult class in the past. HBC has grown since a lot over the yrs by outreach ministry & starting new activities, classes to meet the needs of others. For example the CDC child development center offers Christian base daycare M-F for working parents & Sun/Wed a place where preschoolers needs are met. The FLC was added on & offers class rooms, place for indoor sport activities, seniors r able to exercise/walk in a safe place, wedding receptions, banquets, wed night supper/church social gatherings etc. HBC has bus & vans to transport the special need folks, senior adults, youth to & from church, outings & trips etc. There's now a new outreach group that I've found a need for called "Not Alone" & its a support group for widow/widowers which I've found there's a great need in this area. Like with most support groups, you need others who understand the pain one experiences when a spouse passes & knows about the difficulties that follow like how your entire social life changes, the emotions changes, sadness, loneliness felt when friends & family stop calling/ visiting, the emptiness felt on holidays/ special occasions & how it feels to go to things as 1 instead of as a couple. Seems lots of support groups are started by someone whose walked alone or without having adequate support while they were experiencing a crisis themselves & couldn't find support needed therefore they not wanting anyone else to feel the same way. Whether its a divorce, death of child, military development, single parent or caregiver support group... those who've walked that path are excellent at understanding, helping & knowing the needs of others who are hurting & need support. We experience trials in our life for a reason & we can help others who are going thru something similar to our on pain experienced. But didn't mean to get so deep, just wanted you to know that HBC is a loving congregation who want to help others not only know Jesus but to feel apart of a family that wants to help in many different ways if you'll allow them to help. There's something at HBC for everyone & every age. Hope you'll stop by & come in to join us on a Sunday or Wednesday service or come by the office any day (or call) & get information on what's offered that you may be interested in and what happening at HBC. |
