I also appreciated how smooth and easy the kids’ check-in process was, making it a stress-free experience for families. The sermon focused on the question, What is the church? The preacher built his message around Jonathan Edwards’ idea that the image of God is restored in Christ, which provided a rich theological foundation. I especially appreciated his Trinitarian perspective on leadership, which offered a compelling framework for understanding how the church should function. However, I found his conclusion on church leadership structure to be somewhat limited. He based his argument on Paul’s letter to Timothy, but I believe this interpretation could be challenged by asking deeper questions—such as who wrote the letter, to whom it was written, and for what purpose. Context matters, and a broader exploration of early church leadership might offer a more nuanced understanding. Heritage Baptist provides a fantastic worship environment and thoughtful teaching, even if I might approach some of the theological conclusions differently. While I appreciated the pastor's enthusiasm and conviction, I couldn't help but feel that a more careful examination of the biblical text would have strengthened the argument.
