I really dont understand the bad reviews. Felt the need to share my story and hope other women can benefit from this. Gatehouse was a life saving blessing for my 2 year old son and I. About 9 months ago I had to go to an emergency shelter due to domestic violence I was there for 2 months not knowing what I was going to do next. I happened to find Gatehouse online but was told by emergency shelter they could not referred me since it was a religious program, Decided to take a chance and referred MYSELF, they call me for an interview and approved my application days later. So I am a living witness that they do not just accept people from their sponsors. Is sad because they never once push any religion and can't understand why other shelters won't refer. The program can be a little overwhelming but then again they provide housing a Vehicle and daycare and lots lots of support. I was dealing with PTSD and they also provided counceling and therapy . I honestly cannot thank Gatehouse enough for the amazing work they all do and all the support I received when I mostly needed it.. NOTHING is completely free ocourse nothing in life is, they do teach you to work for it and be independent I was able to leave Gatehouse and support my Son and I without any government help. THANK YOU Gatehouse!

The Gatehouse is a remarkable program to help women in need! The program specializes in domestic violence, giving women the tools and support needed to empower themselves to be self sufficient and to become the best version of their God given talent! There are so many areas to volunteer; apartment set-up, the boutique, fund raising, transportation, you choose what interests you!

I have been volunteering for the past 4 years helping to set up apartments for the new families coming in to the program. It has been a wonderful experience working with a great team doing something that directly benefits the women and children. We are also very well supported by our volunteer co-ordinator who makes sure we have everything we need to set up the apartments the best way we can. I hope to carry on volunteering at the Gatehouse for many years to come!

I was referred to Gatehouse by a friend. She said from talking to other members in the gatehouse community, she heard that there were several apartments available just sitting there empty and that she thought I'd be sure to receive help. I filled out a referral and received a long application and was encouraged. Then nothing. A month went by. Meanwhile I was living in less than desirable circumstances to say the least. I understand there is a wait, but never received any kind of indicator as to whether or not I'd be accepted. Do you at least let people know WHY they weren't accpeted. I finally gave up and was eventually able to make other arrangements. I read the response to another review on here. I know its hard to help everyone, but why are there so many empty apartments just sitting there all the time. My friend said her neighbor told her that she needed to get out right away because they needed the apartment and its still empty. My kids and I could have some of those 70,000.

Hi My name is L. B. I'm a single mom with a beautiful daughter. I did not have a place to go and the Gatehouse open doors for my little one and me. Life is not easy, but the only way I made it was because all the wonderful volunteers at the Gatehouse. It is amazing how the volunteers go beyond in helping us. This review is for all who volunteer at the Gatehouse. I want to tell everyone of you that I made it because of you. I have a job, I am living life one day at the time. I am learning to trust people because of you. If you are a volunteer, please keep doing what you do, you are creating miracles. The Gatehouse is on the hands of angels and I call those angels "The Gatehouse Volunteers" Thanks you for all the time you spend on me and for those who donate money to the Gatehouse.
