This organization is heavily bias toward males. I was originally referred here from the court for a lethality assessment due to my Ex spouse hitting and abusing me to the point where I had to receive medical attention. I have police reports, medical records, and photographic evidence showing abuse. Ray Komorek the accessor didn’t seem to take me seriously. The accessor still said I was the offender even though I’ve been abused multiple times. Physically and verbally. The accessor also kept writing the incorrect history after I told him multiple times the right story. It’s like he was trying to fabricate the story and make me change what I said. It’s sad when you try to be open, honest and receive the appropriate help they somehow make you the abuser and try to get you to admit to things you didn’t do. It makes me wonder how many individuals are forced to be viewed as the perpetrators even when they are innocent. They suggested I par take in the Bipps program. However I do not qualify since I can’t in my right mind and conscious admit to something I did not do. Even when you walk in some of the rooms. Taped on the walls are the power and control wheel which has a section “using male privilege” (black wheel) the wheel needs to be updated to the new wheel that mentioned “using privilege” see the attached new wheel. I’m all for equality but this organization is heavily bias towards males. We live in a new generation where males are getting abused more than females. I am a survivor of abuse. I am incredibly disappointed in the organization. I’m all for equality and there needs to be a change. There is a review from one year ago dissuading similar experience an individual had with Ray Komorek the evaluator. They are not using accurate metrics to determine who the victim and who the perpetrator is. It all determined by whose the better actor in describing there story. Who they think did it, evidence doesn’t even matter to them. The female will most likely get favored majority of the time. The organization needs a lot of change or even start by changing the name from “battered women shelter” to “Battered shelter.” How are men supposed to get help when there in danger?

Called to get assistance regarding my situation and they were going to help me set up therapy but refused to give me the appointment because I wouldn’t be allowed to bring my disabled baby. The world is not set up for women with disabled children in crisis especially. Did you know disabled children are 64% more likely to be assaulted ? It’s not as easy as “finding a sitter” I am on an island all alone.
