Family Violence And Sexual Assault Unit

My fiancé needed help with the process of reporting a traumatic sexual assault that happened to him within the past 5 years. He is still actively working on the trauma the assault has inflicted upon him. He reached out to the Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence Alliance via chat. A person named Ginger just told him "You should have reported to the police" instead of offering any real help to him at all. They should be so ashamed that they advertise themselves as advocates. What a horrid way to speak to survivors of sexual assault. Their volunteers/workers obviously have absolutely no training in empathy or active listening, and definitely no training in how to support SA victims.

Action Alliance didn’t help, only referred me to places that didn’t help, in an endless cycle of wasted time on the phone. Dangerous time. What’s worse is that most of these places don’t help men and are only staffed by women. My abuser is a woman and I’ve been sleeping on the streets for 14 days after calling the Action Alliance.

I'm in a life-threatening, extremely dangerous situastation, and can not get help in my area, due to the litigation involved with the organizations who already failed me. The typical homeless resources aren't an option, as both my husband as well as the individual also threatening to come shoot me in my sleep is heavily networked and connected in that community, and i would be in more danger, as well as outnumbered. It's 1.8.24 @1950hrs, and I just called the hotline after I had no choice but to come hide in a hospital. I thought that as the so-called state "action alliance," they would have additional resources or things that may be available. Ha! All they did was ask if I'd called one of my litigants, and then say they could do nothing but put me in touch with the resources in my community or another community. They dont take action of any sort, and I don't know who's in the "alliance," but they're just a directory referral service of sorts, apparently. Hope I survive long enough to testify. This is everything that's wrong with the system. Incidentally, I'm Native American. Native American females are the *only* demographic the F.B.I. *doesnt* collect or compile missing persons statistics on. Yeah, I'm feeling really great about the outcome of this. And, worst-case scenario, I won't even be a stastic. Thanks *so* much for the help!
