This is a great church. The community is very nice and the building is in great condition. I went here for a wedding and it was fantastic.

This Church is a Blessing. The help they have provided for my daughters and I was priceless. The monthly pantry visits are great!

I am deeply disappointed that Chapelstreet Church has removed my review, so I am posting this again as I believe this deserves to be public knowledge.
I want to emphasize, as I did before, that this is for the purposes of informing people only. I feel as though many people believe that this church is more progressive than they actually are, and I worry about parents who send their children to this church who may not know exactly what their children are being taught.
If you are someone who does not find what I have to say problematic, then I am happy that you can find a church you agree with! For everyone else, I hope this informs your decision to attend this church (or not).
I grew up in this church and have since left.
Chapelstreet Church does not allow women to become pastors for the sole reason that they are women, despite never making a public statement about it or even telling the women in leadership that pastoring is not a possibility for them.
They teach a complementarian view of the roles of women in the church, instead of an egalitarian view. This means that although they say that women are equally valued, they believe that the primary role of women is to assist men. You are to be a ‘sidekick’ to the ‘hero’. When I was growing up in this church, this idea was heavily reinforced.
This church values purity significantly, and although there is no dress code for attending, I was removed from a high school service for wearing a tank top. I was told that my clothing was leading men to sin. Disapproving comments from church leaders about my body and clothing was commonplace when I was a child and young teenager. Additionally, for pool events with the church, women are required to wear at minimum a one-piece bathing suit, while the men do not have a dress code. The responsibility to prevent men from sexual sin is largely put on women and young girls.
I do not have any issue with a church holding these beliefs, but I take great issue with the fact that they do not make these beliefs public. To my knowledge, they have never made a public statement on their view that women cannot be pastors, and they have never stated that they preach complementarianism to young boys and girls. Again, I am deeply disappointed that they chose to remove my review moments after it was put up, instead of addressing their issues with me or the church body. I hope that this may inform parents and individuals on their decision to attend or not attend this church.
