Andrew rated 5 5 months ago We love God's Church. The church has a diverse congregation and a spanish service. The church is just the building, and if you are a true Christian you will know this. Although the building is nice, it really is the people that make it. There are so many ministries here to give to and be a part of. The congregation is very friendly. Pastor Gillit is an excellent preacher. He is well educated and wise beyond his years. We thank him for his faithful service. |
Brianna Sunday rated 1 7 months ago If I could rate them a zero, I would. My friend and I were invited by another friend of ours so we decided to visit. I was led by the Spirit for some reason to have a specific talk with my daughter beforehand and I’m so thankful I did because the micro aggressions towards people of color at this church is real!
My daughter was so excited to go to the children’s church to learn a more about God, but when I picked her up she had tears in her eyes. She was too scared to tell me in front of the lady what was wrong, so I asked her again once we had gotten to the car. She explained to me that she felt so uncomfortable and out of place because the “teachers” spelled her name wrong, passed her over with the offering bucket, and only asked her “Where is your dad?” I’m not sure why the whereabouts of her father was important to know, but more importantly, they waited until I walked away to ask a 7 year old child that question. Hmmm.
I was also taken aback by the spelling of her name because it was so….extra, it’s say it nicely. My daughter has a common and simple name; the spelling was so extra and unnecessary. There was also extra emphasis on visitors being “saved” and “repentance” throughout the service, which made me & my friend uncomfortable as well. We are both saved, although we may not look like it for those who are judgmental. We dressed very modestly, in loose fitting clothing that covered most of our arms and legs, yet we still received distasteful looks. Not very Christ-like.
All in all, we will not be returning to this church. If you are a person of color and you are looking to attend this church, please keep this in mind! |
Jason Bennett rated 5 a year ago Great IFBC serving the DFW area. I was here on a Wednesday evening. I heard a Mexican missionary preach so I can't comment on Pastor Gillette although I've heard great things. The music selections were good, preaching was great - they were friendly and welcoming! |
Alexandra Griffin rated 5 a year ago I've never been to an IFB church that was NOT judgmental, critical, or lacking compassion. Worth Baptist has some of the most loving people on the planet, Pastor Gillett included. He preaches thought provoking messages from a fresh perspective. He doesn't just regurgitate what he's heard his whole life, he obviously studies the scriptures. And everyone I have met or talked to has been so kind to me. They genuinely want to get to know you and love on you, helping you progress in your Christian walk instead of berating you for not following some carbon copy way of Christian life. This church has completely revitalized my faith. I grew up in church and got very disillusioned after the treatment I received after some major hardships, to the point that I didn't attend church for nearly a year. But I moved to TX for a fresh start and found this church, trying to get back my relationship with God. If I have any say, I won't go anywhere else. I absolutely love it here and highly recommend this church to anyone who is looking for one. You won't regret it! |
