I've experienced severe domestic violence in these past 5 years. Ive been recognized by several domestic violence organizations for the outstanding efforts I've put in to improve my way of life and keeping myself and kods safe. I've given speeches in front of leaders of our community and been called a hero and a role model. Ive come to the DVRC twice in the 5 years for any kind of assistance or advocacy and not once have Ive ever been able to get anything done or the time of day to sit down and serious talk with anyone over here to help me. As of right now im stuck again with zero resources or an advocate to help me along this hardship in my life that I wish could be over. I guess I need to be homeless and stay at another domestic violence shelter in order to get any help. Which is a shame being I've worked so hard on establishing a home, a career, and vehicle to assist me and my children through these hard times and without any kind of assistance to help me im afraid im about to lose it all. Maybe Enlace can help us. Im not asking or expecting a whole lot just someone to talk with regarding what resources may be available to help us.

This is a tough post to write especially from a personal account… I want to write this to help others. I would not be where I am today without the Domestic Violence Resource Center. I experienced domestic violence for 2 years. I’ve been to multiple shelters and I have tried so hard to get on my feet. DVRC helped me close a really difficult chapter in my life. I have gotten the support that I need. My case manager has been exponential and has aligned me with programs that have kept my child and I safe and housed. If you’re reading this and you’re in a bad situation and don’t know what to do, I highly recommend coming here. I waited two months for my first appointment, please do not let that discourage you. I want you to know that it might take a while (it’s different for everyone) but follow through with the appointment. It’s worth it, I can’t stress that enough. This is the only organization that was able to truly help my child and I.

Discriminatory towards those with cognitive differences, will outright hang up on you and deny you help for "asking too many clarifying questions" therefore you are called difficult and hung up on. I hope the lady feels bette4 and doesn't do that to anyone else or finds a new job as thats... pretty inexcusable behavior for a facility of this nature but unfortunately that's the norm so she's probably ruining other people's lives not just mine.
