About This Resource

The Duluth Model is an innovative approach developed in Duluth, Minnesota, since the early 1980s to hold batterers accountable and keep victims safe. The model provides coordinated community responses to domestic violence cases, emphasizing the voices and experiences of women who have been battered. It includes a nonviolence program for abusive men, which has shown success in the criminal justice system. The effectiveness of the Duluth Model is witnessed by the men who have chosen to change and the resulting increased safety reported by women. The approach has influenced and shaped much of national and state-level policy around batterer intervention and domestic violence work.

Trained here in 1998 but not open when I visited. I used the training to establish the first men's program based on DAIP into Australia
