Victor D Huston rated 1 a month ago I called today because I couldn't access the ce/broker training. I'm asking questions to why this is I was interrupted yelled at and then hung up on not to mention my return calls where disregarded. Whoever this women was she was very disrespectful and unprofessional for her to get so irate over a few questions clearly states she is unfit for her job. Remove her immediately. Clearly the Barber Board should have remained the overseer for the Barber community. Very disappointed. |
Alyssa Michelle rated 1 a month ago Barbers pay $113 for a printed piece of paper now for a license? We used to have nice thick cards that went into our graduation plaques with our names on it! Now we have to cut out a cheap piece of printed paper?? What is going on with this place!?Bring back the barber board! |
- Bogovich - rated 1 2 months ago They force us to take continuing education classes if you're under 65 years of age or have under 30 years of barbering experience, what a racket because the old timers have the dirtiest shops. I called and tried to become exempt from taking the courses because I identify as a 70 year old. Their lawyer Jared told me I had to jump through all these hoops, mqking it virtually impossible. As a 28 year old who identifies as a 70 year old I feel like they discriminate against us senior citizens. It sickens me to my core. I'm shook, literally shaking rn and have started seeing a therapist because the ohio state barber and cosmetology board has given me PTSD, they fail to identify me as I truly am.
As a non binary genderfluid trans I am afraid to even go into their building, if they clearly won't allow me to be exempt from the course due to my age I fear they will address me with improper pronouns. |

Alyssa Michelle rated 1 4 months ago They have been established since 2018. They have 1 barber on the board when there is supposed to be 3. They pushed continued education for barbers across Ohio when their doors were closed during the pandemic. No one could attend or fight against this decision. They kept their doors closed and did an online meeting but, none of us could attend or have a say against it. When the new board came in, they changed many of the laws. I didn't go to school or graduate under the new board and these new rules. I went to school for 1800 hours and learned the true ways of a barber so now this is all new to us. They came in and started taking control of our careers when they alone don't have enough barbers on the board to make decisions for all of us. Our schooling is longer than a cosmetologist for this reason alone. I can't express or even imagine people who have been barbering for 20+ years going back for classes every 2 years. They first told us we had to do 8 hours of continued education, now its 4 hours with no warning. We get no warning or say. Barbers have been let down across Ohio. |
