I was there a few years ago and I can honestly say I'm greatful that I am no longer there.... The staff are backstabbing people who talk about resident's, the so called head of the place is two faced... and please don't get me started on "sister" Mary, she is the worst one there... there is only one person that I can say truly cared about the people and their situation that was the cook there Mrs.Zina... she took me under her wing and welcomed me with a smile, her meals was always made with love and she always had a good word for you when you need it... but other staff there took there job way too seriously and all of them need to get replaced... DO NOT GO THERE ITS LIKE A JAIL

Everything happens for a reason! God is good all thee time 🙏 Praise God for this place 🙌 It works if you work it. Forever grateful there are establishments such as this to help families in need.

They do good work for the homeless people in the area. There is a house behind (brown house) that offers free clothes to the people in the area. The lady that runs it is super nice. Then the church (Urban ministries) has a food bank on Thursdays. Three helping organizations in one place.

This place is a JOKE! Me and my family (wife and 3 kids) ended up in this place. Not 3 months in LISA, a staff member, crossed my path and started with me. Very disrespectful she was so I approached her and she continued to disrespect me. Long story short I wrote the "board members" LISA including a couple other got talked to blah blah blah. MARY and LYDIA turnt it in to them. (Only to benefit themselfs) Here's where it gets interesting. Staff fall apart over this. Guess they dont like whatever was said. But things seemed ok, a little awkward but a couple weeks pass and this peon JOSIAH come back to work there after being gone for 4 months. Sees that staff is divided, MARY and LYDIA and PAULA and LISA. Not due to me and my letter but due to there own shortcomings. Anyway another long story short JOSIAH is disrespectful he put a dirty alcohol test on me to put me under the spot light. Everystaff member there just happens to be black, my wife and kids are all mixed. Again he put a dirty alcohol test on me and all his coworkers had his back and had something to due with how this planned. I asked for a retest theyrefused. I was told to take the test and never to bring problems that the staff cause back to the office or to another staff member because it hated cause a conflict and divided the staff. Smh which is not true. JOSIAH has mad to sexual references to my wife and has disrespected me more than a handful of times in just the 3 days he has returned at the end of March 2019. He then said I had a pride issue when I talked to him like a man. Once in front of Lydia, once by ourselves (which was his doing I didn't agree because I seen the foul play and no body to witness) and finally again in front of PAULA where he proceeded to put me out for no reason away from my family. Put me out for pride he said. These so called Christian's are full of it. That's all we had and they knew that. They came in between that. my wife had to quit her job and my kids are without there dad until we figure something else out. This place needs to be looked into. Why does "the board" put so much trust in these people. All black staff who disrespected me, is it because of jealousy. I think so. I never did get answers and my wife and kids are still there. Stay away if possible and if you have to go. keep ya guard up because there not playing fair. Unless you're black then you got a green card from what I see.

I recently left this shelter, and i'm more thankful that I left than i am about my stay there. First of all I think that the majority of the staff is very ignorant, Especially Mrs Mary. She seldom have her nice moments but her attitude and ways of talking to residents is disgusting! What bothered me the most is the lack of confidentially and respect the staff had for residents. There were times when I have clearly heard staff members gossiping about residents. This is suppose to be a christian shelter, yet the main people that were proclaiming to be christians were the main ones talking to people any kind of way, calling people out to embarass them and letting the authority that they have, go to their heads. in addition to that, you have a couple people in the shelter that have gotten extended stays simply because they run back in the office and tell other people's business. I really think its time they start considering hiring new staff, people that are more compassionate to these kind of situations, not people that just want to abuse authority. The two top staff that I would personally like to see stay is, Brother Ben and Sister Paula..The only other person that was as nice was Sister Joyce..Everybody else need attitude adjustments in my opinion. Also half the time when good donations such as food or clothing or good toiletries came in, staff clearly pick over the best stuff and take it for themselves.
