I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express my deep concern and frustration regarding a recent interaction I had with your office concerning a protective order for myself and my children.
On 2/20/2025, I reached out to your office for assistance, as I believe our lives are in danger. Unfortunately, I was met with a very rude and dismissive response from Richard Garcia. During our conversation, I was informed that my request for a protective order would be denied because I am allegedly under investigation. This explanation was not only vague but left me feeling helpless and unsupported.
Mr. Garcia’s demeanor was combative and snappy, making it difficult for me to convey the urgency of my situation. When I requested to speak with a supervisor for further clarification and assistance, he abruptly hung up on me without providing any information or guidance. As a mother seeking to protect my children, this lack of empathy and professionalism is incredibly disheartening.
It is alarming to think that in a situation where we are potentially in danger, the system designed to protect families can be so dismissive. I am left wondering: do we have to endure harm before a protective order is granted? This experience has left me feeling neglected and devalued, especially when I reached out for help.
I urge you to address this matter promptly. Families in crisis need support and understanding, not dismissal. I hope to receive a response soon regarding the next steps I can take to ensure the safety of my children and myself.
Thank you for your attention to this serious matter.
Sincerely,
Debresha Bedford
