Typical christian organization. Order a huge lunch of 250+ dollars and tip 10$. christians always act like they help those who are in need. Well except any service worker because they're beneath them. Why I NEVER EVER worked a Sunday as a waiter until our restaurant made a mandatory 20% tip on parties of 6 or more. Started at 10 or more but these people would then come 30 together and split up into parties of 7 and insist on being seated near each other.

We adopted our son through Bethany (domestic adoption, placement directly from hospital). When selecting an adoption agency, it was important to us to work with someone local and who provides excellent resources to birth mothers. We love that birth mothers are in the driver's seat and are provided with a pregnancy counselor who is separate from our adoption specialist. No woman experiencing an unplanned pregnancy should ever feel pressured to make an adoption plan. Jenny (pregnancy counselor) was an advocate for our birth mom from first contact through post adoption services. Marina (our adoption case worker) and Jenny facilitated meetings with our birth mom and other communication during mom's pregnancy. The conversation was always warm, sensitive, and helpful. BCS provides post adoption education, counseling, and events to birth parents, adoptees, and adoptive parents.

This review dates back eight years, when the Columbia, SC office was still open. After waiting for years to adopt, we ended up paying $9,000 solely for a Home Study and Post-Placement report—for a child we ultimately adopted through another agency (a truly excellent one). We deeply regret ever contacting Bethany. The time lost “waiting for nothing” and the money spent were painful lessons. The staff also came across as judgmental; it felt like we didn’t fit their mold. We share this review in hopes that others will make more informed choices when pursuing adoption. Thankfully, with the right people, we went on to adopt twice—joyfully and without the unnecessary hurdles.
