From day 1, this agency neglected to even call us as scheduled for intake. We were blown off like we didn’t exist. Rude and inconsiderate of the agency. We would like a full explanation why this happened and delayed our journey.

EDITED: My Husband and I started with Adoption Star in Summer 2021 with the hopes of adopting an infant. It was brought to our attention due to the volume of clients already waiting due to Covid issues, we could wait out until the cap was taken off, or sign up for International or the A-OK (Adopt an Older Child) Program. We appreciated them being very upfront about this. Through speaking with Shaun Doyle during our consultation, it was very clear to us we would move forward with their A-OK program. We were quickly assigned a Family Advocate, Emily Ward, who has been nothing but spectacular to work with. She answers my millions of questions, and has always been super straight forward with us to help our expectations. She made our decision to go forward with Adopting through Foster Care even more solidified. Our Home Study Social Worker, Alex Liloia-Bishop, was also phenomenal to work with. We were anxious upon our home inspection, however she quickly eased our minds and was extremely kind to us during this process. We are currently submitting our home study to kids, and waiting to hear back, but Emily has been nothing but responsive, quick, kind, empathetic, and enthusiastic for our journey. I would recommend this agency to anyone looking to start or add to their family, and I highly recommend adopting through foster care. --- Adding more as our journey is complete! My husband and I started this journey not really understanding adoption fully and certainly not understanding what adopting an older child would look like. We were first met with multiple advocates who work with Adoption Star, we soon knew this path was right for us. It was a LONG journey, and at time it was painful. We were met with a wide variety of emotions and challenges along the way. Nicole, our assigned family advocate, was with us throughout the entire process. She lifted us up when we were knocked down, and celebrated loud with us through all the triumphs. When we found our children, Nicole was the first person to celebrate with us. She was the first person to show excitement and agree that these children would fit our family perfectly. We would not have had the courage to keep looking after multiple rejections, it was not for Adoption Stars support, and most importantly, Nicole's support. Our children came with their own hurdles, much like any other child, and due to their length in foster care and being separated, it presented us with challenges we were not expecting. Through Nicole and our Social Worker, we were able to strengthen our relationship with our kids, while also nurturing mine and my husband's emotional well being. We're forever grateful to adoption star for helping us complete our family.

Our journey with Adoption Star has been a rollercoaster of emotions—full of highs and lows—but never without the unwavering support of their incredible team and dedicated advocates. From the very beginning, we were drawn to Adoption Star’s progressive, child-centered approach, and that commitment has been especially evident as we transitioned from the infant program to “older-kid” adoption. Navigating the foster and adoption system can be complex and heartbreaking, but at every step, we have been met with compassion, guidance, and a deep understanding of what’s truly best for the children involved. If you are considering adoption, we cannot recommend Adoption Star enough. Their dedication, expertise, and heartfelt care make all the difference.
