I say it's been my Home away from home..2015 was first entry, 2017 again and resting at 2024-2025. I can't say enough Good they have been my support in transitioning continous..Domestic Violence is not a place any body wants to be in. I am Grateful beyond for the Works they do not to mention so so many women as well as men, and children..I like to say home of misfits but strong fun and add spice to ourselves as well as giving to others that need a hug or listening..Advocates become family as well. Community we have in Juneau I believe is the best..Thank you to All..Oh I now have an apt of my own and permanent residence due to Aware..I am finally able to say I am home...Yahoo Grateful heart, Jane Sohn

They lack confidentiality. I went in to speak about the harm I experienced from AWARE staff and was victim blamed by leadership. They have a lot of decolonizing to do - internal work and are not a safe space for all. They are a needed service in our community - but are not a safe service - which is unfortunate as they have a lot of potential to do good.

I was attacked by the residents thier multiple times the advocates didn't care to believe me had many items stolen from me . Was asked to leave back to the streets but I could still shower and eat thier I just had to sleep outside some place else because the residents that where supposed to be temporary where lo g term made things up latching on to staff and what not .. no actual help thier drugs in the bathroom and violence I left before they asked me to leave
