This is as current as today. While there are many issues that go on at AWP there are for sure positives and negatives.
The womans group that occurred weekly on Wednesday nights was amazing until it was put on hold because or restructuring, or so they say.
The facility has never been responsive. Or if they do respond its either weeks or months later after initial contact. Thats does not apply to everyone at AWP but from intake to services it is a timely period. A lot changes within that time frame and women are struggling within this initial period of abuse and dont necessarily get the guidance they need.
Ive been with a womans place on and off since 2021. One story was it was sold and bought and they needed to restructure services back in 2021, heard the same story in 2022. Came back in 2024 to hear the same story. Its bs at this point and its a sad excuse on why things move so slowly at a womans place.
I had called the intake line multiple times in from August 2024 and never actually heard back from someone. I found an older email and reached out directly to someone in regards of how to get services.
Someone finally texted me back to start 1on1 and we made arrangements and then there was nothing. Never scheduled, the person doesnt exist supposedly at AWP.
Now just waiting on the weekly support group to restart.
Had a support staff who showed up at hearings until she gave me false information and couldnt confirm with anyone from legal. Told her I wasnt interested in her support and was there someone else available. Today at court 6/4/25 I was told by the attorney that I refused services. FALSE!!!
But its okay because with the women in the support group I have learned to navigate what needs to be done from other people's

At a time in my life that I REALLY needed help, AWP was there. EVERY person I have met there cares, so much, and is exceptional in what they do.
I really hope they can sustain those services. They have helped SO MANY people.

This place saved me and continues to show up for my family and me. I will forever be grateful for their staff. Seriously. Amanda, Alyssa, Deb, Jason & Mad dog(Maddie) ! I will forever remember you guys.
The one day I said to Amanda, I have nobody I don't think I can do this. She said "that's not true. you have us." & she wasn't lying!
Thank you for changing our lives!
