To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing to express my deep concern regarding the treatment I received during my recent visit to your Family Resource Center. As a mother of young children, I sought out your nonprofit in good faith, trusting that your mission to support families would be honored with integrity and respect.
Unfortunately, that was not the case.
During multiple visits, the environment has felt anything but safe or supportive. Instead of focusing on prayer, support, and assistance, my partner and I have been repeatedly subjected to inappropriate conversations — including staff and volunteers disclosing personal experiences involving pornography and stripping. This is highly unprofessional, especially in a space designed to serve vulnerable women, children, and families.
Most troubling, however, is that after trading in toys, jackets, and clothing — with the understanding that these items would be exchanged for points toward clothing and essentials for my child — I was denied any clothing for my daughter. Despite the clear mission of your organization to provide clothing for children up to two years old, I was told there were none available, and was only offered diapers and wipes. That they had new shipments and were opening a new office. No effort was made to offer even a single outfit, and no explanation was given as to why my trade-in items were accepted without a fair return. I brought items 3 different times.
This experience felt exploitative, unkind, and misaligned with the values your organization claims to uphold. It is especially painful knowing how many families like mine turn to organizations like yours in moments of need and are instead left feeling unheard, judged, or ignored.
I hope you take this message seriously and consider how your current practices affect the very people you are meant to serve.
Sincerely,
[A Concerned Mother/Father]
