If you need an abortion, skip this place: It does not provide surgical or medication abortions. Period, end of story. They will tell you that they simply offer information about your options, but you should be aware that they belong to a religious network of pregnancy centers, Care Net, that is adamantly opposed to abortion and whose mission is to persuade people not to have one. If you are pregnant and want information, there are more objective sources for that! If you are pregnant and have decided to have an abortion, you can find clinics that offer them at ineedana dot com.

This is not an abortion clinic. They do not offer all the choices they imply to on their signs and websites. In tiny font at the bottom of their website they say “does not perform or refer for termination services.” They trick and manipulate people out of their choice. If you are looking for a REAL abortion clinic and funding visit ineedana dot com

I was first made aware of these kinds of places in an episode of the Hulu series The Handmaids' Tale which anyone dealing in abortion/womens' reproductive issues should know about. Today, I rode past this institution and saw it for my own eyes. It makes me shudder that there are others like it. Be warned. These places lie to women. If you go onto their website, you can see they construct their language very carefully so as not to give too little information but also so as not to give too much information either. Under the guise of being Planned Parenthood-esque, they falsely present themselves as somewhere where women can go to receive information (if not even the procedure itself) about abortion and that they fully support a woman in this difficult choice. Right now, in this atmosphere of Roe vs Wade possibly being overturned and womens' access to reproductive care being severely curtailed, it is important that any woman approaching one of these places understands the truth. These clinics are often quietly run by Christian organizations. Even another reviewer elsewhere has stated that the people working here are religious. The staff cleverly discourage a woman from having the abortion she has chosen to undergo. These clinics take advantage of a woman's frail state of mind and mixed emotions when she has learned that she is pregnant unexpectedly. They use manipulative language, telling her that she will be a great mother and that she is strong. They purport falsehoods about the nature of abortion procedures. Is it any surprise that this clinic does not provide any birth control to women whatsoever? I might add that this organization has cleverly placed its Montclair location in an area of town that is home to a lower income demographic, mainly people of color since it is presumed that women from that bracket are more likely to unexpectedly become pregnant for various reasons than women from other backgrounds. All women of color have historically been more disadvantaged by restrictions on access to abortion and reproductive care than their white counterparts. It is fair to assume that First Choice Womens' Resource Centers have strategically placed their clinics elsewhere in similar disadvantaged neighborhoods. Lastly, It is a woman's CHOICE, and hers alone, whether or not to undergo an abortion. It is no choice any woman ever wants to make, but that choice must be hers and hers alone. And no institution such as this has any right to not support her in her choice for their own religious aims, at least as they are advertising under false pretenses. This kind of a clinic has no place in a progressively-minded liberal community such as Montclair and I write this review in hopes that that community at large is made aware of the disingenuous nature of these kinds of institutions which can be found all across America.

The staff was very nice ONLY because I mentioned I wanted to terminate my pregnancy. They helped me in every way possible because they are a religious group that will convince you to not abort. I only received all their services because they did not agree with my decision. Had i been on board my pregnancy they wouldn’t have helped me at all, which is what i am going through at the moment.
