If you are in a physical and or emotional/financially abusive relationship, do not hesitate to leave and go to the Ion center. Being at the Ion is better than staying in an abusive relationship because you can attain the resources you need in order to get on your feet. (Such as applying for housing assistance ) . If you have multiple children then you may be placed in your own room. If you are single or have one child you may be placed with a roommate. The rooms are very decent and there are plenty of bathrooms, a laundry room and cafeteria. They provide lunch and dinner which is a blessing and have pastries and instant oats available for breakfast. You can foodshop and keep a few items in the fridge; they also give you personal food bins to keep in the cafeteria. All in all if you treat people respectfully and treat the place as if it was your own then you shouldn't have too much of an issue. If you have a car you will be better off but if you don't you can still make it work. I won't lie, if you want help from staff members you do need to be persistent and vigilant. The Ion Center also has a therapist on site two days a week who is available by appointment. The therapist is awesome and a necessary addition for women in these situations. If you are worried about leaving your pet behind, the Ion Center has a pet shelter in Maysville so you can bring your pet with you. If you chose to go to the Ion center you need to remember that YOU are your best advocate! Take the bull by the horns and be motivated to do what you gotta do to move to the next step!

They def don’t support male victims and they won’t help you with your children. They are more concerned about the shelter than your children. The shelter has a lot of turner with different staff a lot and unable to keep up with new questions for new people because they can’t even keep people very long with the way it’s ran.

They say they work to prevent violence. But they actually only care about money and they even have discrimination inside of the agency. They won’t tell you that but they talk about individual clients behind the scenes and get judgmental. Like if you have to talk to one that person will go and tell their team at the ion center about you including if they don’t like something about you. They refuse to do holidays even for emergencies unless they are paid extra when this should be about victims and not money. They tell false information too like they have shelter space and then they don’t and they don’t care to make sure someone is safe if they don’t have shelter space. Some companies are more and more for the money and the personal views they have while doing less work even if it’s to help people and this is one of them. Go to women helping women or another company but don’t trust this one. As you see in other reviews I’m not the only one revealing the truth. There may be a share of few good hearted individuals but the company isn’t good anymore.

I recommend Celina and Javier. They are good people; however, they have an employee who covered for her son, who committed a domestic violence act. They did nothing. Never, ever, go there.
