I would not recommend this place to anyone who wants to give birth. First of all, I had numerous issues with this BC regarding communication and overall care. I had to constantly hound the staff to schedule office appointments, make referrals for specialist, and to answers simple questions that were quite frankly ignored 100% of the time. The lack of care and consideration for their patients is absurd. I caught covid (didn’t know it was covid- thought I had food poisoning) during my pregnancy and I had to beg and plead with several midwives to listen to me and provide me with some help.
I had some complications with fibroids and continuous bleeding…they dragged their feet and dismissed my concerns on several different occasions. I basically had to harass WOMEN to point me in the right direction for help.
They were not helpful or caring at all. The exact type of treatment I was trying to avoid by giving birth in the hospital is what I experienced at this birthing center. Birthing centers aren’t new to me. I gave birth to my son at Baby & Co and had an amazing experience that I wanted for my daughter. Fortunately, I had to give birth at UNC due to my daughter being growth restricted. I even had to hound the staff to give me information about my induction date. The lack of care and communication is astounding with WBWC. At least the nurses at UNC were exponentially more attentive than the midwives at WBWC.
I wouldn’t recommend this place for any pregnant women and I’m a big advocate for natural birth and birthing centers. They are beneficial for women, especially women of color.
This places gets a big middle finger from me.
