I knew someone who was a resident housed temporarily at this Mission 2021-2022, the staff was having relationships with him and the volunteers wives whom donated their time. But other than that he really did enjoy the experience there.

WNC Rescue Mission has a small, 2-hour check-in frame, with no access over the weekends. The bunks in these places have no privacy curtains and ear plugs are not given out. People’s items are stolen often, or so I’ve heard. The good news is that if you are “homeless and living out of your car”, (which doesn’t actually equate to homelessness because you can go up on the Parkway and sleep [seems like privileged thinking to me if you believe that you’re homeless if you have a car] well, they still let you stay if you have the right credentials and somehow make it to check-in. There are so many people who would volunteer or trade food to do this job overnight, including myself, just so people who need to check-in overnight could do so. It’s really sad. The only thing that’s keeping people from true dedication to those who are without are the people who own the Mission and make the policies. I have no patience for this anymore.

Not a big fan of this place. I am grateful for I used to be homeless when I lived in asheville. I now own my own home and buisiness. Have a family. And just wouldn't be here if it wasn't for the gracefulness of this place. That being said.. I will say the church serviced is flawed. I like the idea of what it is. But the sabbath (1 of the 10 commandments) is not reconized here. I had a great deal of conversations with the preachers that come here. And they gloss over the sabbath like its an unimportant detail. Sunday is not the sabbath. Its a day chatolics made to be the "new" sabbath. Obviously you cannot change Gods law for man. Saturday is the sabbath. Why is church mandatory on sunday if sunday is just another day? No evidence in the bible states that sunday is the sabbath as sunday is the first day of the week. And the preachers ignored this fact everytime I talked to them. One even said "theirs evidence that Yeshua and his followers met on sunday once". Well I would hope so! Its another day of the week. Yeshua never stopped spreading his love. Why would he stop on sunday? Or monday? Or even friday? Because its just another day. Unlike the sabbath which is holy. This is borderline paganism. And just shouldn't be mandatory! If you want to have a christian homeless shelter then I'm all for it. But do it the correct way! My debates were just glossed over and it really concerns me that you only preach certain things but ignore others from the bible. This is not how Gods word is spread.

I was totally unaware of this facility until recently. Some coworkers and I were given a tour. The scope of what this place offers is a wonder! They are a safe place for men and women, to get the resources they need to get their lives back on track. They have a mental health professional as well as visiting medical personnel every week. There's an after school program for kids. A great place helping our neighbors that need time to heal. Consider giving them your time and/or money.
