I called them Feb 2026, a VERY nice lady answered the phone letting me know that someone would contact me the following day about helping me get a divorce, help deciding if I should or shouldn’t report the DV, & help find housing in the Cedar Valley area. Got my hopes up real high as I’m burnt out. Someone did call, yet was not that friendly, and ALL she did was tell me I can’t get a restraining order, (never asked), gave me a housing # through Friends Of The Family & told me to go in person to Iowa Legal Aid for help with a possible divorce. NOT what Elevate in Waterloo had stated, that they have an attorney that may help at Waypoint. I already know about FOF, & IA legal aid so I’m not sure the point of this organization. In CO when I had issues with abuse, they had SPAN, & they did help get a restraining order PERMANENT, got a free attorney for that, & helped me get a divorce. I thought Waypoint would be the same…sadly no. Two stars only for the KIND lady I originally talked to and another as somone did call back. There has to be a better place for help. God have mercy.

First off Im sorry to all women who are told" there are resources.." people to help. Police officers advising you to leave and promising help. It is sickening how broken this organization is. I talked to multiple people. Waited..waited. Nothing after a promised a phone call. I see why women end up DEAD! The judgement and heartless inconsideration is repulsive.

I'm so sorry to anyone who is trying to access resources for help and are met with this very broken system. Waypoint's lack of integrity and compassion have nothing to do with you. Riverview and the national hotline might be better, or local churches. I'm still looking but after a month of trying to access an advocate and experiencing judgment and rejection- I'm accepting Waypoint is not the resource it portrays itself to be.
