To condense eight years into a few paragraphs, I'll share that I last stayed at the Union Rescue Mission in Wichita in 2021... Now that I consistently take medication for good mental health, I am certain that my fourth stint at URM will be my last... In 2017 I stayed 87 days... They provide a safe, warm place to stay with a meal, shower, and, at the time, church service... How anybody could complain is beyond me... Then, I got in trouble in 2018 and needed a 27 day stay... Whenever I am not taking medication, I find it difficult to hold down a job... Again, a meal, shower, laundry service, mat, pillow, a sheet & blanket, and clean environment is a huge blessing... In 2020, I stayed 13 days before giving life a shot in Oklahoma & Missouri... Life sucked. By the way, the Union Rescue Mission in Kansas City is a completely different experience. Those people try to control you with humiliation & shame. Never stay in Kansas City. Those people are awful. Finally, in 2021, I figured out life... I needed another 27 nights at the URM, but I haven't been back... I truly appreciate what the URM provides, and the staff is actually notably competent... I will always have a special place in my heart for the URM Wichita for the support they provided...

I am currently in the solid ground program and it has been truly one of the greatest experiences. The fellowship with men in the program that are on the same path you are on is so awesome! I'm learning a lot about who I am in Christ and have been blessed to meet great people who truly care about your walk. I have gotten to participate in so many different things since I've been hear and I really feel like a part of what's going on here. Add on: it is now around 3 years later and I am still at the union rescue mission in fact I am now staff. I'm a case manger from one of the programs and get to offer the same blessing that was offered to me. I love the men I work with and lord willing will be here till I'm old and gray. I'm so grateful for the sacrifice Christ made for all of us and the people here who are constantly by my side.

This place has helped me out a lot and it's pretty clean and they have good food. They also have a program that will help you out and get you on the right track with God!
