I was a resident of one of their facilities in Brooklyn. I was appreciative of the fact that I had a place to stay with my dog. Thank you URI for that. A City Feps Voucher was given to me. I was dismissed six months later. During my time there I had found an apartment but unfortunately the apartment package was submitted incorrectly and incomplete by them while I was there. I lost that apt because of their negligence and because my case manager never followed up on any of the emails that were sent to her from my broker towards the end of the process. They were supposed to take that package out as soon as I left the facility and they didn’t. They left it in the system. The place I was transferred to took care of everything right away. As soon as I got there they started all the paperwork for me to start over. In less than three months I had a new apt that was ready for move in. It has been two months since URI was contacted about this and I’m still waiting for URI to take out the old package they submitted so DHS can accept the new one. The new landlord has been waiting since January. I have until February 20 to resubmit the Application. If It is not accepted because the other one is still in the system, I will not be able to move into the apartment on March 1. If that is the case then the landlord is going to put the apartment on the market again. I have contacted the shelter several times. I have left voicemails, and even left messages at the front desk asking her to please call me because I need them to resolve this as soon as possible. I even contacted the supervisor Darby and she blatantly told me we can’t help you because you no longer live here. I explained to her that is not true. I was told by DHS that they’re the only ones that can take the package because of the fact that it is a DV shelter and DHS is city and they cannot touch it. Or remove it from the system. They will not help me in any which way or form.. she even told me to stop contacting them to stop bothering them. I have sent Ms Darby two more texts after our last conversation begging for her to please help me and reminding her again that I have until the 20th to have this package submitted. When she made that statement about not calling them or contacting them again she said it in a way as if saying, I was annoying them. This is a place that is supposed to be helping you start your life with no fear. They know what I went through. I talked so many times to them when my anxiety kicked in. The stress level was terrible. I wound up in the hospital seven times because it was too much for me to deal with. I have a peacemaker so that made it even worse. The doctor had to give me medication to calm my anxiety down, including meds for my blood pressure. This is place that is supposed to help you with your fears about being out there and making you believe that will everything will be all right. Be there for you when you need support and someone to talk to when your fears of the future got the best of you The promises that I was told made me believe that everything would be OK. And now they have completely dismissed me. If I lose this apartment, this will be the second one because of them. If I want to search for another apartment, it would not make any difference because as long as their application is on file I will never be able to use my voucher to find a new home. I need help and I don’t know what else to do. I have filed complaints, but you know how that is. It might take a while. It hurts that they would do this to me😞

Thee worst place to be after being in a DV situation! After you think you've escaped your abusers here comes Ms.kelly and Ms.Eberhart as your second and third abusers... this place isn't helpful at all they don't know their jobs and they stunt your progress all the while preaching at your time being 180 days. Nobody helps you to get the voucher they don't even know what advent is! All they do is lie and give you the run around while your bruised battered and recovering... I've seen ppl leave here with nowhere to go because of their lackadaisical behavior! ... Ms.kelly needs to be fired she's a bully and her passive aggressive ways is abusive! Just last week I witnessed a male Caseworker Mr. Spellman yelling at a female resident on the first floor embarrassing her pointing in her face! This place needs to be shut down and staff trained the only good ppl here is the RS staff! Ms. Whylie is incompetent! Never really had an interaction with Mr. Spellman but based on his behavior with that lady I'm good! Ms.Eberhart is the second in command ringleader to Ms.kelly all useless and all they do is threaten you lowkey they never do anything up front! Ppl go to a DV shelter for help they're not helpful in no way shape or form!
