I had been to this place 10 years ago and it was wonderful so, upon a tragic situation we decided to bring our daughters here. However, this time with our two teenage daughters has been anything but a pleasant, comforting experience. Minus the three month wait, on one occasion we sent our sixteen and fourteen year olds ahead of us because we were going to be late from a work meeting and told them we would meet them there(because a parent has to be there) BUT we were called twice, as I was in a meeting and my husband was told the girls had to leave because we weren’t coming (insinuating we were lying about coming)! FURIOUS!! Needless to say, We put that aside to send the girls back. A lady found us next group to apologize, that she was “new”.
Frustrating enough, FROM THE BEGINNING OF OUR STARTING TIME AT THE WARM PLACE, we were told we could NOT go in the parent room together(my husband and I).. that it could only be one parent—as if the parent and step parent couldn't BOTH benefit!!! Seriously?!
So we would stay, as a unit, in the dining area (where we were told we could) because, GUESS WHAT, we were told we could NOT sit in our vehicles, that we had to be IN THE BUILDING. Sooo, next group…..we show up and are asked at the door, “Are you all going to sit in your vehicle?” As to which I shook my head “no” and was ask “ARE YALL SITTING IN THE GROUP THEN?”
ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?!?! I just walked out and said “We were told NOT to sit in our vehicle, we COULDN'T sit in group together, y’all can’t make up your minds!” My husband was met with “its a construction issue” SO NOW EVERYTHING THAT WASN'T OKAY, ALL OF A SUDDEN IS?! You couldn’t have KINDLY said, “Due to construction we are allowing parents, MORE THAN ONE, to join the group, or sit in their vehicles. Not, “well you can’t sit in the dining room”
I think there needs to be some serious reviewing of how the staff talks to and handles the parents just and much as the children, it’s a difficult enough situation for ALL INVOLVED!!!!
THIS PLACE HAS BEEN A DISAPPOINTMENT, to say the least this time. I guess that’s what you get for FREE.
At the end of the day, it’s about the kiddos, if you can’t afford anything, something is better than nothing…I think.
