Where the training is great,more work shop should be available for the youth

This place has helped me find C.O.R.I. friendly jobs and career advancement for years. Great staff and helpful resources.

This place is a mess, disrespectful, confusing.. Masshire is obviously in need of funding that the workforce department is forcefully trying to provide with this unemployment division. Unemployment wants us to sit there to receive our checks. But the place is not good for eveybody.. They have no jobs for re-entry. I had an interview the same day they wanted me to do some resea review. Of course i go to the interview. Got the job, was able to get a ride for the first day of training. My next day to work.. Wasn't able to go because my check was stopped no transportation money. I told the worker at the career center about it and she said oh well i should of came to resea review.. I asked her well do you have any cori-friendly jobs... OF COURSE NOT!! Another one bits the dust.. But im relentless and will find another job on my own..smh.. If yall knew better this place would do better

I want to warn the unemployment community who has to choose between JVS, (federal street, Boston), and Boston Career Link on Harrison Avenue in Boston. Stay away from the Harrison Ave location. They outright misled me when I had to do a mandatory unemployment seminar when I asked them if I should book the seminar through JVS since it was JVS that I signed up with when unemployment said I had to sign up with a career center. They told me it didn't matter they were all one. You would think common sense would prevail and that they would suggest I do the seminar through JVS especially since they were handling my section 30 funding. But, nope, that wasn't the case. I was then told in a way that was threatening by a career counselor that if I did not show up for a follow up review that I would loose my benefits, even though I told him I was starting a section 30 YMCA Training Inc program. He said unless that section 30 goes through, I would have to still come there and give them the same damn information with JVS. This so-called career counselor is named , Louis. Well, my section 30 went through before that date, and not only does he call me during class, but gets me in trouble for not having my phone on silent. I've never been on unemployment before and to make a long story short, I called Boston Career Link back and left a message with a supervisor, because I wanted the name of the counselor who insisted that I had to come in so that I could run that by section 30 division of unemployment. I was never contacted back. I have now missed two days of class because, Louis, the so-called career counselor for Boston Career Link put me in as a no-show. When I asked Louis, the so-called career counselor why nobody returned my call, to make sure that I understand WHY I had to come in, Louis, the so-called career counselor told me because they have hundreds of clients, and simply could not return everyone's calls. When I asked Louis, the so-called career counselor at Boston career Link on Harrison Ave, if they recieved hundreds of voicemails every day, he then back-tracked and said that's not what he was saying. Are you guys following me? This is suppose to not only be a so-called career counselor, but turns out, he's a supervisor! Had these people been professionals, and returned my call to someone who clearly did not know what was going on, and knew they would actually have their checks stopped, wouldn't expect your so-called, career counselor, or his supervisor to call you back? And the so-called director of the Boston Career Link? He told me he wasn't even going to let me talk and tell him what's going on because he was the director, and couldn't help me and that he would transfer me to guess who? Louis, the so-called career counselor. I only get 133 bucks a week in unemployment and 38 dollars a month in food stamps and for Louis, the so-called career counselor is given all that power with clearly no supervision by the Massachusetts Unemployment Office to actually revoke someone's lively hood, can you believe it? And don't tell that to section 30, they blamed it on the federal government policies. So now, I'm beat out of a paycheck, I help take care of an elderly mother with multiple disabilities, and she had to lend me her last 60 bucks for the month to pay our cellphone bill, which is suppose to be my duty as a good son, and there is hardly any food in the house. Her medication causes her severe sleep and eating problems and I'll leave it at that. All this was told to section 30 division of unemployment, everybody and you know what? I'm beat. Nobody can do anything. I have to make a very long walk in the cold to school or I'll be kicked out and there goes my life. What planet is our city employees and there goons at the Boston Career Link on? Can anybody tell me? I wish I could pull the race card like everyone else does but I don't have that exuse. At least JVS took me right away. My real career counselor took me right in and handled it. But I'm beat for this week. No money no food.

Very attentive and professional staff with many resources and programs as well as classes. Open to suggestions and treats everyone with respect. I have found most o f2f my job through this location in the last 6 years. It is a full- time commitment to find employment. If you put in the time and attend classes they will find you something.
